Stenter

Regardless of whether you are manufacturing heavyweight furnishing fabrics or lightweight dress materials, how your fabric looks aesthetically can make all the difference to your customers or buyers, so having the right fabric drying and finishing machine is imperative.

Our stenter – a fabric drying and finishing machine used after the wet-processing of a fabric – helps achieve the perfect finish, thanks to stretching or stentering the fabric to just the right dimension, in terms of its width in particular.

It also ensures that the application of finished chemicals is achieved with a precise shade variation adjustment, enabling you to exit the processing with the exact colour profile you required.

The stenter machine is composed of two endless and self-lubricated drive chains, in various lengths, which carry pins or clips that hold the fabric edges securely, as the fabric passes through a number of hot-air chambers. Within these, the hot air is directed onto the fabric from both above and below, in equal measure, to optimise the process.

Knowing that the heat used for the fabric drying and fabric finishing will cause some shrinkage, the machine can overfeed the fabric to compensate, whilst increasing the width to the value precisely specified by the chains, to again combat any shrinkage issues.

The stenter’s speed ranges from 10 metres per minute to 100 metres per minute, according to the weight of the fabric being handled in the fabric drying and fabric finishing process. The end result is a precisely dried and finished fabric.

Bespoke-sized machines can be produced for those wishing to match their stenter more closely to their own fabric production needs.
